Join CIP for the next edition of the new Plan Canada Webinar Series! Listen as authors from the most recent issue share more insights from their article, dive deeper into the theme, and take members’ questions live.

Technology and its applications for planning are evolving, with innumerable implications for rural and urban places. Emerging technologies shape the everyday lives of people as they navigate the physical and virtual worlds. Throughout history, communities have evolved alongside and in response to emerging technologies.

The Summer 2025 issue of Plan Canada discusses the applications and implications of technology in planning, as it relates to sustainability, public engagement, equity, and beyond.

Each Plan Canada webinar is free for members to attend and can be used toward your Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) requirements. Non-members are also welcome to join for a fee of $35, plus applicable taxes.

If you are a CIP member and attend the webinar, your CPL units will be automatically applied to your account and be viewable in the Member Area. It does not get easier than that! Just make sure to register with the same email as your CIP/PTIA Member Area login (your primary email) in order to ensure eligible CPL units are automatically added to your account.

Jason Doerksen

Jason Doerksen oversees service improvement and innovation initiatives to support city building. He has deep experience leveraging technology and innovative approaches to help organizations evolve and adapt to changing needs.

Dan Hiebert, Professor Emeritus, The University of British Columbia

Daniel Hiebert is Emeritus Professor of Geography, at the University of British Columbia. He specializes in research on immigration policy and the changing social geography of Canadian cities. He has also worked extensively with government in policy development and with non-governmental organizations that support immigrant integration in Canada.

Morgan Boyco RPP MCIP

Morgan Boyco RPP, MCIP is a Planner and Community Engagement Specialist at Dillon Consulting and a current PhD Candidate in the School of Planning at the University of Waterloo.

Lyla Peter RPP, MCIP

Lyla Peter RPP, MCIP is the Director of Development Approvals and Inspections with the City of Edmonton. She is excited to see how technology can support the team's work and all those who are helping to build Edmonton.

Dr. Pamela Robinson FCIP, RPP

Dr. Pamela Robinson FCIP RPP is a professor at the School of Urban & Regional Planning at Toronto Metropolitan University and Academic Director at City Building TMU. Her current research asks: how should we rightsize Canadian municipal AI governance and how do we engage the public in AI governance?

Harrison is a Registered Professional Planner focused on supporting Indigenous communities. His work with Dillon Consulting has focused on needs assessments for housing and facilities, land use plans, and strategic planning. He holds graduate degrees in Planning from Dalhousie University and International Public Policy from Wilfrid Laurier University.
